“Tax planning update for 2013”
In late 2012, we were faced with the uncertainty of knowing if the provisions of the 2001 Economic Growth & Tax Relief Reconciliation Act and the 2003 Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act (popularly called the Bush-era tax cuts) would expire or be extended. We crossed into 2013, still not knowing. On January 2, 2013, President Obama signed into law the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 (ATRA of 2012) The first session will review the impact of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 (ATRA of 2012) on individual income taxes and planning. The second session will focus on the impact of the ATRA of 2012 on business income taxes and planning.
Discussion will include the following:

- Implications of the Affordable Care Act on 2013
- Ohio Updates for both Individuals and Businesses
- Municipal Tax Update
- New planning opportunities
Howard J. Kass, CPA - Howard J. Kass is a partner with Zinner & Co., LLP and has over 30 years experience and has cultivated particular expertise in individual and business income taxes, tax aspects of real estate investment, gift and estate taxes and tax exempt organizations. Howard applies his extensive knowledge and experience to a diverse client base of individuals and companies including closely held businesses in a variety of industries and ownership structures such as C Corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships, and LLCs. Industries served include real estate, manufacturing, retail establishments, insurance agencies, distributors and service companies. Howard is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Ohio Society of CPAs and the Tax Club of Cleveland, The Cleveland Estate Planning Council and the Society of Financial Service Professionals . He has served on the boards of the Real Estate Investors Association of Northern Ohio and the Cleveland Digital Publishing Users Group (CDPUG) and currently serves as the President of CDPUG. He has also been listed in Who's Who in Creative Real Estate.
